Hope is high for 2022 Mercedes-AMG EQS, and indeed so. Rivals may not be able to admit it, not publicly at least, but where class s goes with his colleagues tend to follow: iconic sedans may not debut every feature that must be owned between luxury sets, but still responsible for more than just a fair share. Now, with EQ that represents the electrical evolution of Sonderklasse, it is an AMG opportunity to bring performance to support the promises of the aggressive 2030 roadmap.

Aerodynamics clearly ruled perched on the EQ Mercedes division. We are used to slippery eVs, but EQS goes further than most with river pebble silhouettes. When I see it, I can’t not see the abstract car model that must be displayed by a different dealer, just exploding up to full size and then with painted surface details.

Find the right angle and it’s handsome and impose. AMG’s Beefy Aero Wheels – Available in 21- and 22-inch sizes – Help, offset some visual heft from the side. I prefer specific AMG grille, with sharp vertical struts above the intake of reset. Behind there is a larger spoiler and a new diffuser with a sharper fin.

This is a turner head, of course, at least because it looks a bit like CGI creation that has just been launched on the road. Inside, high-tech sense continues, with a large Mercedes’ hyperscreen installed as standard. Do modern dashboards need a 55-inch screen, including a special touch screen for front passengers? No, maybe not, but it makes control of every other vehicle on the road feeling retro with a comparison.

Used, it’s less disturbing than you expect. EQS utilizes good inches on offers, with special graphics and animations AMG, even if some standard versions actually match more info to the driver screen and head-up display. The center touch screen managed to feel comprehensive than crowded, and while I knew a lot more like physical buttons and buttons for things like HVAC settings, Mercedes at least made them persistent at the bottom of the screen.

All inside, the AMG EQS cabin goes through the “S-Class of EVS” bill. It’s luxurious and cohesive in a way that no other electric cars on the market can be suitable now, a combination of high technology that is very visible with old school attention to detail and material. It’s also very spacious, not only in front where a custom AMG sports chair is very comfortable, but behind where the foot space is very matak.

The US will get two DriveTrain options. As a standard, EQ 2022 AMG has a double electric motor with 658 horsepower and 750 lb-ft torque. 0-60 MPH arrives in 3.4 seconds, and the highest speed is limited electronically to 155 mph. Check the AMG Dynamic Plus package, and you get 751 horsepower and 752 LB-FT Tori; It’s good to boast rights, even if it might not make a lot of differences in the real world.

The performance of AMG 4matic + All-Wheel Drive is standard, as well as AMG Ride Control + and air suspension, rear axle steering, electronically controlled damping, and AMG specific bushings and mounts. The tuning division also throws in extra cooling for motorbikes, while ceramic brakes are optional.

The settings I achieved quickly, meanwhile are the option to turn off the AMG sound experience. Like all EVs, EQS is needed by US law to make a kind of noise outside, to warn the pedestrian to him. Inside, though, the car maker cooks two special soundtracks, one of which is only opened if you have a Package AMG Dynamic Plus.
