Exclusive: HDFC MF finalises money managers to handle Prashant Jain's funds

Sources that are highly placed to tell moneycontrol, that the process of finding a suitable money manager to take over the tent funds handled by Prashant Jain is ongoing.

Moneycontrol knows that HDFC MF has identified Dana Manager to oversee the top three Prashant Jain schemes – namely HDFC Flexicap Fund, HDFC Top Fund, and HDFC Balanced Advantage Fund.

Roshi Jain – HDFC Flexicap Fund

Roshi Jain has been bound to manage HDFC flexible funds. He was a senior fund manager & joined AMC in December 2021. Previously, he was the management of VP-Portofolio in Franklin Temleton.

Rahul Baijal – HDFC Top 100 Fund

Rahul Baijal will manage the Top 100 HDFC funds. He joined AMC in July 2022 as a senior fund manager. He previously worked with Sundaram Mutual Fund & Bharti Axa Life Insurance.

Gopal Agrawal, Anil Bamboli, and Srinivas Ramamurthy – HDFC Balanced Advantage Fund

HDFC Balanced Advantage Fund has been submitted to the Trio of Gopal Agrawal, Anil Bamboli, and Srinivas Ramamurthy. Gopal Agrawal, which will manage the equity section also manages large HDFC funds & MIDCAP & HDFC value funds.

Gopal has 20 years of investment experience and joins AMC in July 2020 after the assignment at Mirae Asset Management & DSP & Tata AMC. At HDFC MF, he currently manages almost 18,000 CR RS in AUM.

Anil Bamboli who will manage the debt section has a 25 -year experience & currently manages more than RS 66,000 CR in AUM.

HDFC MF has taken a new initiative to add a third fund manager – Srinivas Ramamurthy who will carry out the allocation of assets. Srinivas joined AMC in October 2020 and currently manages more than 11,000 CR RS in AUM.

HDFC Balanced Advantage Fund – One of India’s biggest equity schemes

With the corpus of RS 43,079 Crore, HBAF is one of the largest equity schemes in the Indian Mutual Fund (MF) industry. Until last year, Jain has managed this scheme by tilting his portfolio with equity. It consistently allocates at least 65 percent of the corpus for equity. However, last year he slightly changed the allocation of his assets and reduced his equity, in line with most of his colleagues in the category of Advantage Balanced funds. Jain has managed HBAF consistently since February 1, 1994 for 28 years; Note in the Indian mutual fund industry.

In addition, Srinivasan Ramamurthy will decide on the HBAF asset allocation section. Ramamurthy specializes in managing asset allocation funds in HDFC mutual funds, and he will decide how much HBAF will invest in equity and debt. With simple words, HBAF will now have three fund managers.
