President Droupadi Murmu on Monday said his election for the main constitutional position proves that in India, the poor can not only dream but also fulfill these aspirations.
In his speech after the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India and Ramana who was managed to him oath as the 15th President of India, Murmu thanked all members of parliament and MLA for choosing it.
I have been elected for an important period when the country marked 75 years of independence, he said. “Reaching this office is not my personal achievement but from all the poor in this country,” Murmu said.
“My election is proof of the fact that in India, the poor can dream and also fulfill that dream,” he said. It is the power of Indian democracy that a girl born in a poor tribal home can reach the top constitutional position, added Murmu.
In his speech, the President stressed to accelerate efforts to meet the expectations of the independence fighters from Indian independent citizens.
